County Proposal for the New Asphalt Plant.

The proposed asphalt plant will be located at 3561 Peachtree Parkway at Granite Lane (located east of the Kroger shopping center). The silos will rise 90 feet in the air and be visible from many points. The plant will operate 24/7. Forsyth County has already initiated the process of approving the application to authorize this heavy industrialized equipment in a highly populated area. The process is being fast-tracked (2 months) compared to the normal procedure of at least 6 months. Independent, proper studies on the impact to health and property values have not been done. The asphalt plant will create noise, toxic fumes, odors, dust and a large increase in truck trafficking. Like you, many of us had no clue that plans for the asphalt plant were taking place. This is due to Forsyth County trying to gain approval its own “expedited” way. On November 21st, over 600 of community residents and neighbors showed up before the Commissioners and raised our concern over this plant. As a result, the Commissioners have postponed the final votes until January 9, 2020 when a hearing for the final vote will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main Street. Please join us in keeping our community clean, safe, and enjoyable.
